Deepak Minhas, M.A.
I am a trauma-informed therapist who works with children, youth, and adults navigating a wide range of challenges, including grief and loss, identity formation, and dual cultural identity. My practice is grounded in compassion and cultural sensitivity, and I have a particular interest in supporting individuals who are neurodivergent, including children and youth with ADHD or those adjusting to major life transitions such as parental separation.
I support clients dealing with anxiety, depression, and the complexities of living between two cultures. I often work with youth who are reflecting on their values, beliefs, and sense of self. My approach is integrative, drawing on cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, and humanistic modalities to meet each person where they are.
I have volunteered with the Sexual Assault Centre during my undergraduate studies, and I currently support the Baba Nanak Trust Foundationāa South Asian organization dedicated to increasing access to mental health resources in our community.
I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Alberta and my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. In my spare time, I enjoy boxing and am a published writer. The books I have written address mental health taboos within the South Asian community, with the goal of creating space for dialogue, healing, and cultural understanding.
