Laura D’Andrea, M.C.
Laura is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists, and is a member of the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta. She completed her Master’s of Counselling degree at City University of Seattle in 2020.
Prior to working at Equinox Therapeutic, Laura worked at Our House Addiction Recovery Centre, an inpatient male treatment facility for substance use, for 3 years. Through her work at Our House, Laura fostered a passion for working with individuals suffering from traumatic experiences. She is trained In Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and thoroughly enjoys working with survivors of trauma.
Laura believes that therapy is largely about human connection. She takes on a client-centred approach and truly believes in meeting the client where they are at, with an empathetic, and non-judgmental stance. Laura spends a lot of time focusing on and building the therapeutic relationship so her clients can feel safe and supported.
Laura recently completed her Level 1 Clinical Training in Gottman Method Couples Training, and is eager to begin working with couples to help them navigate conflict and perpetual problems in the relationship, and to help rebuild friendship and shared meaning in the relationship.
Laura grew up around and riding horses. She enjoys spending time with them because of their soft, gentle, and therapeutic nature.
In her free time, Laura enjoys spending time in the mountains, snowboarding and camping, running, and spending time with loved ones. She also has reinvigorated her love for reading since finishing her Master’s program. Laura adores her new puppy, Kinsley, who is an australian shepherd cross.
