Janelle Cooper, M.C.

Certified Canadian Counsellor

Janelle is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) in good standing with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). They completed their Master of Counselling Psychology degree from City University of Seattle in 2022. They are trained in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), the Gottman Method, and are currently pursuing training in EMDR.

Janelle is a queer, relational, experiential therapist who explores identity and relationships on personal, familial, cultural, and societal levels. Janelle’s style is strength-based, collaborative and warm, with sprinkles of humour. Through a trauma-informed, attachment, feminist, queer- and neurodivergent-affirming social justice lens, they avail of modalities such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for individuals, couples and families, solution focused therapy (SFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), somatic therapy, and the Gottman method.

Along with their counselling training and practice, Janelle brings over 20 years of experience as a registered massage therapist and dance facilitator. Working holistically, they incorporate expressive arts and somatic (body-based) interventions so that clients can process emotions and trauma that may not be accessible through talk therapy. They enjoy working with couples, polycules, families and any other relational constellations. Each session is individually tailored to the client, with safety and authenticity are at the forefront.

Janelle loves music, crafting, building community, and spending time in nature – especially camping and dancing under the stars. In their free time, you’ll find them growing, cooking and eating delicious food, walking in the ravine, and connecting with their human and fur family.
